Chronic Illness Awakening
Hi, my name is Nicole. I once thought that having a chronic illness was the end of the world but now I use it as my strength.
After having my period since the age of 9, I was diagnosed with Endometriosis after having an ectopic pregnancy at age 20. A year and a half after having surgery I was blessed with my daughter.
Now at 28 I have been diagnosed with hypothyroidism and fibromyalgia. It was quite overwhelming at first finding out that I have all these chronic illnesses. I originally was starting an instagram blog based off of having endometriosis but I changed it to include my other illnesses. It was hard to swallow at first. Having endo I wasn't taking medication each day and didn't have to feel the pain each day like I do now. I used my frustration, thoughts, and passion to advocate to put it into my instagram page.
I work full time, a mommy to a now 6 year old, and a wife. I at times felt alone with my illnesses until I go on Instagram or Facebook and talk to the community. I fight each day to keep my head above water and I enjoy helping others feel the same way. It's not fun to feel alone and like you have no one to talk to. I enjoy being there. It helps me feel like I have more of a purpose with advocating. It puts a smile on my face and helps build relationships with people from all over. Having chronic illnesses isn't great but I'm blessed because of the things I've been able to do. I hope to be able to reach out to more and make more spoonie friends!!
